Who we are

OUR STORY

We are Laura and Maria Elisa, twin sisters and founders of The Llamas, a small independent brand of handcrafted clothing, illustrated fabrics and funny accessories.

But let's start from the beginning: The Llamas was born in 2015 as a blog , a small space to tell our love for creativity, in all its forms. Initially born to share Maria Elisa's crochet projects (her first name was "Needles and Skeins"!), over the years the project has grown to also involve Laura and her illustrations, until it became the small brand it is today!
One of the first products made together? The fox bag, which is also one of the most loved!

From our small room we moved to a real laboratory in Milan , shared with other artisans, where we design and create all our collections.

Why llamas? It just so happened that the union of the first two letters of our names LA + MA coincided with that of the funny camelid. And since they are funny, soft and have a perpetually sly expression, we had no choice but to adopt them as our spirit animals!

The blog still exists , and so does our desire to spread creativity: we share sewing and crochet tutorials and patterns, downloadable illustrations and wallpapers, quick DIY and design ideas, along with some behind the scenes and various glimpses of life lived between Milan and Matera. We also organize sewing workshops and courses for beginners and advanced in our laboratory.

Over the years we have collaborated with companies and magazines in the sector , participated in events and markets, published many tutorials. Since 2018 we are part of the team of blogger of the CasaFacile magazine .
