CROCHETED CAT COASTERS... MEOW! // FREE PATTERN + TUTORIAL
Share
With this heat it's the perfect time to invite friends over and relax with a cold drink. Why not decorate the table a little with some colorful coasters? As you may have understood by now I'm slightly obsessed with cats...so I had no choice about the shape to give them!

I made my cats with cotton ribbon but you can use other materials, such as cotton rope. The important thing is that the thread is thick enough to get coasters of the right size. Let's get started!

MATERIALS
- 1 sketch of t-shirt material yarn, 200 gr *
- 9mm or 10mm hooks
- scissors
- tapestry needle
* I used Fettuccine Yarn in corn, from BettaKnit .
ABBREVIATIONS - UK terminology (US in brackets)
- inc = increase
- dc = double looper (single looper)
- sl st = slip stitch
- ch = chain
PATTERNS
- Round 1 - 4 ch, then sl st into the first chain, forming a ring. 8 dc in the center of the ring, sl st to the first dc (if you need to tighten the middle of the ring, simply pull on the tail).
- Round 2 - 1 ch, then 1 inc in each stitch around [16 dc], sl st to the first dc.
I have taken step by step photos to help you out with the third round, the one that gives shape to the ears.

- 3 ch, then sl st in next chain.
- dc in next chain.
- To fasten the first ear: sl st in the second dc from the stitch where we have worked the first chain.
- sl st in next stitch.
- To make the other ear repeat from point 1 to 3.
- sl st in each stitch around, till the first ear.
- Cut the yarn and weave in end.

Now the most important step: add some ice, a slice of orange, some mint leaves and your cold drink! Please note, it is essential for the success of your coasters. ;)

Now you are ready to enjoy your refreshing break...see you next time!
