CROCHET SNOWFLAKE // FREE PATTERN + TUTORIAL

Here we are at the last tutorial of the year! :D You will be very busy with the preparations for tomorrow, so I propose a quick and easy tutorial to make crochet snowflakes! Simple and effective, they only take a few minutes to make. Depending on the yarn used, they can be of any size, so you can use them as decorations for the tree, to make a garland or to embellish your gifts! Or you can scatter them on the Christmas table or use them as placeholders... the choice is yours! ;)

The last tutorial of the year! :DI know you are preparing for tomorrow and you are very busy...so this is a quick and easy tutorial to make crochet snowflakes! They are simple and striking and realizing them takes just a few minutes. They may be any size, depending on the yarn you decide to use! So you can hang them as a tree decoration, or make a garland, or also use them to decorate your presents! You can even spread them on the table or use them as placeholders...your choice! ;)

MATERIALS

  • wool
  • crochet
  • scissors
  • wool needle

ABBREVIATIONS

  • mb = single crochet
  • m.bs. = slip stitch
  • cat = chain

PATTERNS   

  • 1st round – Work 4 ch, close with a sl st in the first ch, forming a ring. Work 2 ch, *1 sc in the center of the ring, 1 ch * ( fig.1 ). Repeat from * to * 5 times, then close with a sl st in the first ch (6 sc).
  • 2nd round – *Work 8 ch. ( fig.2 ), then 1 sl st in the third ch. from the hook ( fig.3 ). Work 3 ch. ( fig.4 ), then 1 sl st in the third ch. from the hook. Again work 3 ch., then 1 sl st in the third ch. from the hook ( fig. 5 ). Work 4 sl sts in the ch. below, one sl st in the space between the two sc (not inside the chain but underneath), then one sl st in the next sc ( fig.6 ).* Repeat from * to * 5 more times, then close with a sl st in the first sc ( fig.7 ).

MATERIALS

  • 1 sketch of t-shirt material yarn, 200 gr *
  • 9mm or 10mm hooks
  • scissors
  • yarn needle

ABBREVIATIONS - UK terminology (US in brackets)

  • dc = double looper (single looper)
  • sl st = slip stitch
  • ch = chain

PATTERNS 

  • Round 1 - 4 ch, then sl st into the first chain, forming a ring. 2 ch, *1 dc in the center of the ring, 1 ch* ( step 1 ). Repeat from * to * 5 times, then sl st to the top of the first chain (6 dc).
  • Round 2 - *8 ch ( step 2 ), then sl st to the third stitch from hook ( step 3 ). 3 ch, ( step 4 ) then sl st into the third stitch from hook. ch 3, then sl st to the third stitch from hook ( step 5 ). sl st into the following 4 ch, sl st in the space between the dc (under the chain), then sl st to the following dc* ( step 6 ). Repeat from * to * 5 times, then sl st to the first dc ( step 7 ).
